Question 1:

Does uploading a print take a long time?

Click here to see the answer

Answer

It is difficult to evaluate the time required to upload a series of image files. It depends on several factors like the speed of your modem, size of the files and amount of Web traffic during the upload process. Be sure not to close your browser window before the uploading has been completed, since doing so means you will need to begin your order again. If you are concerned about losing your connection, it is best to send several small orders, rather than one larger one.
Question 2:

How many photos can I request in a single order?

Answer

There is no established limit as to the number of images files requested in a single order. Of course, the larger the order, the longer the upload process. What’s more, you can order as many as 9999 prints of the same image without any impact on the upload time.

When you visit the Uniprix photo centre with your conventional 35mm camera, you can have your images transferred to a CD-ROM. Whenever you need more copies, you can select the required pictures from this CD-ROM and order them through the Uniprix photo centre. You can also scan your photos, save them and order additional copies or enlargements through our photo centre service.
Question 4:

Once I have placed my order from my computer, how long does it take before I can pick up my prints at the Uniprix store I have selected?

Answer

Except for a few statutory holidays when store business hours may vary or barring circumstances beyond our control with the Internet connection, orders are normally ready and shipped to the selected Uniprix store within 48 hours or so after an order is placed (during business hours). Certain products from the Photo Boutique may also lead to a longer wait time.

The expected date of delivery in store for each envelope is indicated on the page following your order confirmation. While this date is not guaranteed, it will be respected in most cases. It is best to call the store before picking up your order.

Prints and photo books:

Other products from the Photo Boutique:
You can reframe your images and change their orientation.

Our software application does not include luminosity or contrast correction, because our laboratory can perform these alterations automatically and effectively. If you still wish to retouch your pictures, there are several specialized software tools that can provide the control you want (e.g. Adobe Photoshop). However, you should know that certain alterations may affect the end quality of the print.

Question 2:

How can I control the framing of my images?

Answer

You may proceed with different size and reframing trials to obtain the picture you like best. Please note that the system accepts reframing of an image only if the resolution is sufficient for the print format selected. For a tighter reframing, select a smaller print size.

Image files

Question 1:

What types of image files can be used to print photos online?

Click here to see the answer

Answer

We suggest you upload files with a JPG or JPEG extension. You can also use BMP, TIF and TIFF files, but, due to their weight, these files will slow down the uploading process. We do not print from GIFs as these would give poor quality prints.
Question 2:

What print size options are available?

Click here to see the answer

Answer

We offer many print sizes. The most popular are:

 • VIP 4½" x 6"
 • Regular 4" x 6"

Other options include:

 • 5" x 7"
 • 8" x 10"
 • 12" x 16"

Most panoramic versions can be printed on paper widths that include:

 • 4" x 7" to 17¾"
 • 4½" x 8" to 17¾"
 • 5"x 9" to 17¾"
 • 8" x 14" to 17¾"

The resolution of your digital camera determines the maximum printable format:

 • Size 4½" x 6¾" is best for 640 x 480 pixels or 1024 x 768 pixels;
 • Size 5" x 7" is best for 1280 x 960 pixels or 1280 x 1024 pixels.

If your camera features resolutions equal to or greater than 1800 x 1200 pixels, you may order 8" x 10" prints without compromising quality.

Question 4:

What is the minimal resolution required to order prints?

Click here to see the answer

Answer

The resolution, which is measured in pixels, is the total quantity of digitized data stored on your photo. A lower resolution translates into a lower level of detail clarity.

Each format has its own minimal resolution required to order prints. Our software application determines the resolution of your print, then compares it to the minimal resolution required you have selected.

Our application tags pictures of insufficient resolution with “!” or “X.” “!” indicates that you may still print a picture but that it will likely be of poor quality. “X” means that the resolution is too low to be suitable for printing.
